270 Die Set

$542.00

Three die set that makes a flat base, open tip bullet with an 8S-.020 secant ogive.

The secant ogive allows for a sharper ogive while keeping the ogive length shorter.  The ogive is about the same length as a blunter 4S bullet.

Good for lighter weight bullets for the 6.8 Remington and similar cartridges.

270 Die Set

$542.00

Three die set that makes a flat base, open tip bullet with 1 1/8E round nose ogive.

Good hunting bullet.  A  7/8″ long jacket makes around a 115 grain open tip bullet.

270 Die Set

$542.00

Three die set that makes a flat base, open tip bullet 10 degree spire point ogive.

The spire point is like a sharp pencil.  It is a good design but one that has been mostly replaced with the spitzer ogive.

This bullet will usually be most accurate if the bullet can be seated out of the cartridge case so that the bullet just touches the rifling when chambered.  Most bullets with longer and flatter ogives are best seated in this manner.  A 7/8″ long jacket will make about a 110 grain open tip bullet.

270 Die Set

$542.00

Three die set makes a flat base, open tip bullet.

The ogive is a long VLD  which is simply a long secant ogive.   Although not called a VLD then it was first tested by the US Ordnance Department about 1935.  The VLD or ULD can be a good bullet for long range competition but for best results needs to be seated out of the case far enough to just touch the rifling when the round is chambered.

Bullets that have long ogives don’t like to “jump” to contact the rifling.  A 1 1/8″ long jacket will make about a 140 grain flat base open tip bullet.  Adding a rebated boattail set will improve long range performance.

270 Die Set

$312.00

Rebated boattail add-on die set.

Used with the core seat die in the three die bullet swage set to make RBT bullets for longer distance competiton.

270 Die Set

$230.00

270 (.277″) dual diameter die set.

Converts a standard bullet into a bore rider bullet also called a dual diameter bullet.  The forward section of the bullet is reduced to rest on the rifling to allow the bullet to be seated out further without being stuck in the rifling.  The reduced section can be adjusted for length as wanted.
